All information as regards Hannah has been supplied by Harriet Nolan and, as far as I am concerned is unconfirmed. She was an accomplished pianist and a very talented artist. A beautiful detailed pencil sketch of the Francis Home in England "Stock Hall" dated 9th July 1957, by Hannah when she was 15 years old, is in the family possession. On the reverse of the frame is written "Presented to my brother "Dick" A.A. Francis on this visit to me, Aug 11th 1900" and signed H.V. Francis, Brussels.
She was also an accomplished seamstress leaving several velvet brocade and silk embroidered quilts. The women of this family were reared as fine English breed ladies, very able to keep a fine home.
During her twenties Hannah met and was engaged to a Mr. Smallman but he died as a result on an accident when ice gave way on the River Thames, which runs thro Delaware, Ontario, and he was drowned, following which she never married. Her father conveyed a piece of land to her and this was recorded on the 15th March 1878 in Page 152 on Park Lot 2, Plan 47 Delaware. Hannah then conveyed this same piece of land to her mother on the 8th August 1879, recorded on the 8th January 1881, and this may indicate when her fiance's untimely death occurred. She lived for many years in Brussels (Ontario) giving music lesons, painting and participating in community musical programs.
All the following are memories as given by Frances Marks Landy (Hannah's Aunt) to her daughter Harriet Nolan:-
After her parents death (1888/9) Hannah was living in Brussels, Ontario with a Mrs Rogers. When Harriet, her sister later Marks, left the family home in Chapman, Kansas she stayed with Hannah for a short while before going to to Toronto to work and to be near another sister, Emma. Hannah also lived in St Jospeh's, Michigan with her brother Robert, who after a short time with her went back to Duluth. After the death of Mary Somerville Marks (not known to me) at her sister Harriet's and her husband's home on the Maple Road, Hannah and her brother Robert both came in the Spring of 1928 to live with the Marks family (Robert later to return again to Duluth) and stayed there until her care was too much and she was taken to the county home. When Hannah was taken to Niagara County Infirmary Hospital her sister Harriet never went to see her nor did she attend the funeral. Hannah was taken from the Kennedy Funeral Home to be buried in the Marks Plot at the North Ridge Cemetary. The pallbearers were Charles Kamper, Roy W. Landy, Edward T. Marks and Pierce Landy. Hannah died of organic heart diesease aged 91.
