General Notes: Wife - Edith Lorna FOSTER
All information supplied by Doreen Rice, her sister. She was married to a Mr Smith and died at Frankston Hospital, Victoria, Australia. She was cremated on the 24th September 1999. She is survived by one daughter and five sons.
Lorna was evacuated to Wales in 1940 and to lancashire in 1943. She attended Luton Infants school and Grove Road School for Girls before receiving a scholarship for The Girls Technical School Fort Pitt Rochester. Lorna trained as a student Nurse at Hammersmith Hospital and married Edward Norman (Ted) Smith in September 1953 in Sittingbourne Kent. They lived in Selling,Kent and had five children very quickly, Kevin 1954,Sherry 1955,Ralph 1956 and twins Clive and Stephen in 1958. Their last child, Quinton was born in 1964. Ted was an acclaimed mushroom grower in Kent but the business turned sour and he became a manager for several other growers over a period of years finally, in 1970, the family migrated to Tasmania where Lorna worked in the Burnie Mills as the Occupational Health Nurse. Following Ted's death in 1993, Lorna moved to Frankston in Victoria where she lives in a 'Granny Flat" in the grounds of her daughter's home.
