General Notes: Husband - Jean DE L'AUNE
Jean de lÕAune was deported to Cherbourg, France during the Dispersion. He and his family were on the ship ÒLa CarolineÓ in 1785, as part of the Acadian Expedition to Louisiana. Jean was serving as carpenter, caulker, and seaman, and his brother Christophe as navigator. The ship arrived in New Orleans on December 12, 1785.
Jean was listed on a report of farmers in Louisiana whose crops had been damaged by a flood of the Mississippi River. The report, dated August 16, 1788, stated that the family needed seven and a half barrels of corn for subsistence.
