From the Crowley Signal Feb. 16, 1901;
In an article from that paper about Church Point and its merchants was one about a store owned by Homer Barousse in which it appears Rudolph David " handled wines, liquors and cigars".
Rudolph David and Albert Olivier operated the first restraunt on Main Street which had opened for business July 1, 1900.
By the end of 1907 , when the rairoad was to become a reality for Church Point merchants began building new business buildings , Rudolph built a new restraunt called , "Rudolph David's Pearl Restaurant". His son Ralph opened a soda fountain in his father's restaurant.

David: Jewerlry and Confectionery
The first jewelry store in Church Point was owned by Rudolph David and operated by a Mr. Salbach, who was the jeweler and watch repairman. The business was located on Main street where the present Fontenot and Guidry store now stands.
David also owned the first confectionary ,which featured fountain drinks and other "goodies" The drinks were made of flavored syrup over crushed ice.
Rudolph David sold the confectionery too in 1920. The building which housed the confectionery was also used as the post office at one time.
