"Dad served in France during 1916, and was badly wounded by shrapnel, at Passendale, where he lost 9in. of bone from the thigh, and would still have had a hole in his leg that you could put your fist in, when he died.Two inches higher and there would not have been twelve little Websters running around. Dad had two brothers and two sisters, Aunt Ciss (-christian name not known), Uncle Bert- Herbert James - killed in France during the last week of the War, Cyril----, who died a long time ago,- was bitten by a lion, back in the late 1920's, and who's eldest son, was an Inspector of Police in Singapore, something I did not learn about until it was too late to take advantage of; then came Aunt Bet, who was still alive and living in Putney when I was over in 1974. As to the possible hyphernation of the Webster name, I had never had any idea that it might have been so. Ciss and Jean were the first to mention it to me,but apart from that " I know nothing". Should we have had a hyphernated name, my section of the Webster family would have lost the hyphen a long time ago."
