They moved from New Plymouth to Dunedin after they got married. Doris never worked, but was a St. Johns Hospital Hostess in Dunedin and was active in the Anglican "All Saints" Church.
Buried at Andersons Bay Cemetery amongst the war graves at Block 70, Plot 28, Stone 78. Before the war he was an engineer in New Plymouth. He served in France with the NZ Rifle Brigade and the 3\super rd\nosupersub Battalion, Otago Infantry Regiment from December 1916 to October 1917 until he was wounded in action. After the war in 1922 he and his brother George started farming at Warea. In 1930 George moved to New Plymouth to become a salesman and Hugh continued farming until 1951. The family then moved to Dunedin. A farmer at Warea from 1922 until 1930 then a real estate salesman living at Flfed St, Downe St, 1 Bulteel St and 14 Gilbert St in New Plymouth. George lived in New Plymouth in the old family in Bulteel St. George and Hugh started farming together after World War I before he moved back to New Plymouth. For some time he worked for Wrightson Stevenson as a stock & station agent. Probably was living in New Plymouth when he died.
Doug was a farmer at Walton from1933 until 1938 and then after 1943 Wises lists him as being a farmer living at Kent Rd.
