General Notes: Husband - Rene HEBERT Dit Groc
Rene Hebert, "dit Groc," and his wife Marie Boudreaux were deported to Connecticut. In 1766, James Murray, Governor of Canada, gave the Acadians in Connecticut permission to return and settle in Lower Quebec. Seventy people, including Rene and Marie, set out in spring of 1768. Marie died on the way. Rene made it back, but died only a few weeks after arriving.

Old City Landmark Changes Hands
Meyer Drug Store, 706 West Third Street, a building familiar to old and new residents of Bayou Lafourche, was sold this week to Sidney S. George for the sum of $25,000.00, by remaining heirs of the Meyer estate, Lloyd L. Meyer, Alonzo C. Meyer, Mrs. Francis M. McCulla and Mrs. Carolyn M. Caillouet.
Meyer Drug Store was opened in 1889 by the late Dr Albert J. Meyer and the late Dr Louis E. Meyer, the late Miss Lucille Mayer, a pharmacist, continued to operate the drug store until her last illness which took her life on April 10, 1957.
Previous to 1889 the building housed a general merchandise store owned and operated by the late Louis J. Meyer, father of the two doctors. The records show that Louis J. Meyer, a native of Alsace-Lorraine, France, settled in Thibodaux in 1851, with his bride the late Armantine Boudreaux Meyer. The couple moved to Louisiana from Bellville, Illinois, where they had been married.
The store with entrance on Bayou Lafourche (now West First street) received its merchandise from steamers traveling down the Bayou from New Orleans. Mr Louis Meyer, the original owner, became an active member of the community, serving as organist in St Joseph Catholic church during the time the late Father Menard was pastor. Mrs. Meyer, his wife, was leader of the Church choir. Records show that Mr. Meyer tuned pianos, repaired other musical instruments, and even made a violin.
