Dear Doreen Rice: We have just received information that there is to be a Francis Reunion in Liverpool on the 30th of June. We would love to attend that if there is an open invitation to descendents of the Francis'. My great grandmother was Emma Francis, daughter of Dr. Abraham Francis. Please send us details of the reunion. We are heading to Sydney, Australia, for a month leaving here next Sunday, the 26th and will be staying at the Sutherland Motel on the 28 and 29 of December. We will be at this computer off and on for the next 28 hours and then not till Jan 26th when we return since we will be visiting until Christmas. Thank you, in advance for any information you can give us. We wish you a very merry Christmas and a gloriously happy new millenium.

Emma was baptised in Delaware, Ontario on the 13th September 1851, married Thomas Barton in 1872 in Winnipeg, manitoba, Canada and had three children by him Harriet Susie, born 18th June 1873, Tom Francis born 23rd February 1875-23rd June 1935 and Robert Arthur born 25th October 1877. Her first husband died in 1878.
In a Barton Journal written by her son Tom are the following entries:-
Emma moved from Winnipeg to Delaware, Ontario in 1878. Emma sailed for England 8th June 1882 with her father, Dr Abraham Francis. She moved to Toronto 15th June 1887.
Emma was living in Toronto when her mother died in 1888 but arrived in Chapman, Kansas on "Wednesday's Cyclone" from Canada to attend the funeral. Hannah and she arived on the day of the funeral and her mother was buried "in the evening just as the Sun shed it's last rays of light on the sad mourners".
She married her second husband Isaac Cooper in 1890 at Toronto but had no further children.
Memories of Frances Marks Landy 1990 " When Emma Francis Barton's husband died of Typhoid fever she was left to acre for three young children. Hattie and Tom couldn't go to college becaue Cooper took all Emma's money. Hattie went to business college later. Tom worked for Pacific Coast Missions from the Toronto Anglican Diocese and Transferred out to British Columbia.
