The IGI was checked as regards her baptism which shows a lady of the exact name being baptised at Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex in 1806 where the parents are shown as William Simpson and Frances Lozell, details of which tie in perfectly with the marriage below when she would have been 20 years of age.
Originally came to notice as a result of her full name being supplied by Doreen Rice and as having married in 1826. The original marriage entry (ERO DP132/1/4)(No copy) was checked wherein she was described as a spinster of Dengie, married by licence with consent of lawful and natural father, William Simpson, signifying under 21 years of age. There was no licence at ERO.
In the 1841 Census (HO107/461Bk3F22)(No copy) she is shown aged 35, born in Kent, which is wrong, and living with her husband and children. I have used her age as part evidence that this is the correct family in the census.
In the 1851 Census (HO107/1778F538)(Doc 337) she is shown aged 43, born Bradwell which ties in perfectly with information already known and good enough proof that this is her. She is living with two children, born Northfleet, Kent (again good proof) but her husband is not at home, he staying with his son Joshua in Colchester.
