James was to be transported to Australia after being tried at Kingston England in 1825 for Horsestealing and was given Life. He was taken to the Hu lk Sheerness until 16.5.1826 when he was transported on the Marquis of Hun tley on her lst voyage carrying convicts. He arrived in Pt. Jackson on 13. 9.1826 after a 120 day voyage. He was 53 years of age.
His son John was tranported to Tasmania in 1844, he was caught stealing sh eep and wheat and was joined by his wife Lydia Webb and some of his children,
James was sent to Stroud, NSW in the employ of the Australia Agricultural Company,
as he was a groomsman.
