Edith married and Ernest Skutil and had one child June Eduth Skutil. As there is some variation from that information supplied by Doreen Rice I have not shown it on the database.

We have completed your research and from the details you
provide,it would seem that the Robert Francis you seek born in
Essex,England applied for free passage to S.A. on 31st Dec 1839.
In Pike's index to persons applying for free passage application No
6695 he is shown as aged 28 (consistent with a birth 1812) with
wife aged 29, and a male child 10months. He was a cordwainer from
Malden Essex. From Pat Button's book "A free passage to Paradise"
this embarkation number shows that Robert Francis arrived on the
ship "Orleana" on June 10th.1840.
Biographical Index of S.A. shows a Robert James Francis
arrived by 1841 residence Hindmarsh religion C of E married
Eleanor,children George Gordon 1841 Ruth 1847.Also shows a George
Gordon Francis parents Robert James and Eleanor,born 23-8-1841
S.A. a labourer of Balhannah. He married Jane Paine born about 1845
(father Thomas) on 13-4-1870.
The 1841 Census shows Robert Francis and family living in
Stilmer/Hilmer Street Hindmarsh.
Index to marriages show that Ruth Francis married Thomas
Mount on 29/5/1875 Ref:103/609, and George Gordon married Jane
Paine 13/4/1870 Ref: 83/63. Index to births show Ruth Francis born
1/4/1847.
Sand and McDougall directories show R.J. Francis a farmer
near Balhannah in 1874,and in 1878 when there is also an entry for
George Francis a gardener of One Tree Hill. In 1885 neither are
listed and in 1893 R.J.Francis is listed as a farmer near Hahndorf
and George a farmer of Windsor.
