Aunt Annie said that "one of the post office ones had told me that that there was a Neill who was related to my grandfather (James Kinnear) who lived on the lane between Bertie and Norman Richie's house." This must have been relation of his mother Bessy. Annie can remember that James was 86 when he died
(28/2/99) Meredith estate 1878 shows James Kinner at 15A Hollymount (20 ACRES)
Griffith's valuations show that James took over the rental of a 46 acre farm at Ballyplunt in 1881. The landlords Mrs. Waulfe? and Catherine Hamill. In the first Griffith's map of 1863 this farm was part of a much bigger farm of 128 acres rented by Robert McKibben snr. In 1871, presumably on the death of Robert, the land was split into 3: Farm 7 became - 7A now rented by Thomas Huddleston 56 acres House and land 7B now rented by William McKibben 47 acres house and land 7C Pat Doran In 1874, farm 7B passed from William to Robert McKibben jnr?. It was this farm (re-numbered 9 in 1880) that was bought by James Kinner in 1881. A year later he took over a small holding of 5-6 acres (12Aa) from John King. King remained in the house paying rent to James whilst James used the land In 1895, Thomas Huddleston's land (renumbered 8) was taken over by James Jervis. In 1903/13? James Minnear sold his 22 acres of land (ref 7Bb originally 9Ab) to James Kinnear. Later in 1912, 6 acres of land including a house (ref 7A also originally 9Ab) was bought from Patrick and Francis Keen. This was probably James Kinnear jnr as the Valuation book for 1914-1921 shows these properties owned by "James Kinnear" while the original 47 acre farm still owned by "Jas Kinnear". In 1921 James Jervis was still the neighbour.

General Notes: Husband - Samuel KINNER
It is possible that this Samuel (or maybe his son) is the related Kinnear that Aunt Annie had heard went to Scotland and assumed had remained there. Since then she has heard from Jack Kinnear (perhaps through Miriam) that his father or grandfather had gone to Scotland but later returned to N.Ireland. Jack thinks his grandfather was called either William or Samuel. If it was Samuel then it may well be this Samuel born in 1843

We do not know who his wife was or exactly how many children they had. However, there is evidence to suggest that he had, at least, the following
We know that John(2) and William(3) were brothers as two of their sons are referred to as cousins in later marriage records of Downpatrick Unitarian church. In turn, descendants of William and James (4) were known by Mum and Aunt Annie to be fairly closely related. The old baptismal records for the Downpatrick Unitarian church show a James Kinnear born to William in 1779. Based on this and the above, I have assumed that they were all brothers and sons of William (1)
Note William is as far back as I have managed to trace the links.
Here is a record however from 2 generations earlier to a John Kinner. There's every chance that this John was an earlier relative of our William Kinner, perhaps even his grandfather as the family name "John" is repeated in later generations:

1690?: Testament of Geils Kinros and John Monteath who died in 1689 and 1690 respectively [Dunblane Commissariat Records]. Testament dative and inventory of the goods etc pertaining to umquhile Gealls Kinros, relict of umquhile Andrew Monteath in Park of Jerah and unquhile John Monteath, their son, the time of their decease, the time of the decease of the said Geallis in April 1689 and the time of the decease of said John in January 1690; made and given up by Andrew Monteath, in Roughburn of Aithray, her son, and brother german and nearest of kin to said John Monteath and executor dative decerned to him by decreet dated 3 November 1670. Debts due by said umquhile John Monteath and Patrick Monteath her son; resting to said John by Henry Blackwood in Dunblane; James Buchanan in Dunblane, umquhile Agnes Monteath his sister, payable by Walter Alexander in Gogar. Summa - 1196-17-4. Debts due for funeral - 44. Restis of frie geat - 1152-13-4. Confirmed 3 November 1670. [N.B. Either the dates of death or the dates of the decreet and confirmation are incorrect; probably the latter. Geils Kinross was probably the daughter of Malcolm Kinross in Holehead, and sister of Isobell K. in Coldhome.]
General Notes: Child - Patrick MONTEATH
Just who the patriarch of the Monteaths of Park of Jerah was is unclear and the first record so far unearthed is from the Dunblane Testaments: 15 Dec 1664 - Andrew Monteath of Park of Jerah & Geils Kinross.
Many Monteaths are in the Logie Parish residing over 100yrs after the above Andrew, some at Park of Jerah, & Little Jerah who could be descended from him or his sons, proof seems impossible but I have noted the possibilities[?], some could be correct but unless someone unearths private family documentation we shall always wonder. Coldhome which was later occupied by a descendant of Elizabeth & Alexanders had in 1691, John Monteath & his wife Janet Viccar farming there and by the naming laws this would be a brother of Alexanders. Sponsors for the baptisms of some of Alexander & Elizabeths children at Park of Jerah were John, William & Patrick Monteath plus Richard Henderson. Richard was the husband of Agnes Monteath and I have discovered in Perthshire in that era of sponsors they were mostly siblings or close relatives. Therefore I have placed all those people in Alexanders family, remembering that they may well be just cousins, but to easily keep track of detail of these I have entered them.
