Jan and Arnet Theunissen, two brothers, who descendants used the surname of Pier are found on the passenger list of May 9 ,1661 for the ship "De St. Jan Baptist." April 17, 1699, Rachel(widow of Arie) remarried "In the presence of Ariaan Roos, Geesje Pier, Maria Nucella (wife of Domine), and Mary Singer was Rachel Pier with her chemise over her clothes married to Allert Hendrickson Ploeg by me (Domine Nucella." The significance of her chemise is that she brought none of her first husband's debts to her second. She called widow of Arie Franssen, born Amsterdam, Resident Kingston. She was a witness in 1712, a sponsor at bith of Neeltje, illegitimate daughter of Willamtje in 1716, and a sponsor in 1723. Her name appears in various forms; Rachel Jansen Pyer, Rachel Janse Pier, Ragel Jans, Rachel Jans, Rachel Jansen Pier and Rachel Pier.
